Welcome to the very first step in your journey to becoming a pilot. Regardless of if your aspirations as a pilot is to fly for fun, to take friends and family on trips, fly for the Royal Flying Doctor, operate as a Corporate Pilot, or taking command of the world’s most sophisticated airliners as an Airline Pilot, every pilot there has ever been has stood exactly where you are now.
The Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) takes you through the basics of operating as a competent pilot. You will be introduced to the basics of controlling an aeroplane, then basic manoeuvres, making radio calls, operating at a busy controlled aerodrome and in uncontrolled airspace. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we will start putting you through a variety of scenarios when things do not go to plan.
By the end of the course, you will emerge a competent pilot with the privileges to operate within the local area where you can take friends and a family for a local scenic flight, or a day out to Rottnest (with a little bit more training!)
Should you aspire for more than just the RPL, you will now have the skills that form the foundation of achieving the higher classes of licences.
