Private Pilot
Licence (PPL)

Once you have successfully gained your Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL), you are able to take passengers, however you are limited to only fly 25 nautical miles from your departure aerodrome and fly aircraft restricted to under 1500kg.

So the next step is exciting and even more rewarding, obtaining your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

During this stage of your training, you will be adding to your already existing knowledge of how to safely fly and operate an aircraft, a new skill set, and that is to navigate around the country.

While conducting the required 20-30 hours of flight training you will also complete at least 5 hours of solo cross-country navigation to refine and hone your skills.

When you are confident in your ability and you have displayed this to your instructor, a flight test with a CASA approved Testing Officer, will earn you your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

There is a theory component of your training which you will also be required to complete along with a written exam. In most cases our students study this during their own time, however, we are always happy to help and guide you through any questions or concerns you may have

At Major Blue Air you can obtain your PPL in any of our brand new Cessna 172’s. All our aircraft are factory fitted with the latest G1000 glass cockpit displays and the latest technology.

The feeling of independence when you can fly and now navigate an aircraft anywhere in Australia for leisure or business and carry up to 5 passengers in second to none.

Note: Training hours required to complete the course are indicative only. Aviation is a competency-based training environment where cost and time required to complete a course varies with individual performance.
