Instrument
Rating

Tired of having to always stay away from the fluffy white clouds? Are your missions always being hampered by the winter weather? Or perhaps you are aspiring to become an IFR Charter, Corporate or Airline pilot? Then the Instrument Rating course is the must have rating to add to your licence!

While the privilege of being able to go into cloud is very exciting, the world of instrument flying presents a different set of challenges and dangers which requires a very different mindset to visual flying.

As part of this course, you will be taught how to operate within the Instrument Flight Rules, the techniques used to successfully perform a flight from departure to arrival without visual reference, and the threats affecting such flights into different types of weather.

The course can be completed in a single engine class, or multi engine class aircraft. Candidates electing to undertake this course in a multi engine class aircraft are required to hold the Multi Engine Class Rating.

Course Overview

The course syllabus runs over 18 training sorties, including:

  • 15 hours of ground briefing
  • 36 hours of flight/simulator training

The training can be conducted in either our Cessna 172 or 182 G1000 single engine aircraft or Piper Seminole G1000 multi engine aircraft.
